Blue Chairs

Blue chairs hold a special place in design furniture: they bring a bold chromatic presence while remaining remarkably easy to integrate. The Cool Republic brings together 112 carefully selected models here, from deep midnight blue to the most delicate powdery shades. Plastic shells, upholstered seats, lacquered metal or solid wood legs — each piece combines a precise formal intention with genuine everyday comfort. This selection is designed for residential spaces as much as for more ambitious interior design projects.

Blue runs through every family of contemporary design, from Scandinavian chairs with their pared-back silhouettes to more sculptural pieces rooted in industrial design. Muuto chairs interpret this colour with the mastery of materials so characteristic of the Nordic studio, while HAY wooden chairs offer blue lacquered finishes on understated, functional structures — the About A Chair remaining one of the most accomplished examples. Where bolder shapes are concerned, Philippe Starck chairs explore colour as a compositional element in its own right. Dimensions vary from one model to the next: standard or lower seat height for dining chairs, versions with or without armrests, stackable or fixed. This diversity makes it possible to create a coherent set or to play on carefully judged contrasts.

A blue chair sits naturally around a dining table in natural wood, black metal or marble, creating a contrast of materials that gives structure to a space without weighing it down. It also works beautifully as a single piece in a study or reading corner, placed like an object in its own right. For those wishing to explore other formal or chromatic directions, the &tradition Chairs section offers complementary designs in a craft-led, contemporary spirit. The key is to choose a model whose proportions and finish converse with the room as a whole.
