BIG-GAME
The Swiss studio BIG-GAME is one of the leading innovative design trios of today.
Founded in 2004 in Lausanne, the BIG-GAME Designer studio comprises the creative trio of Grégoire Jeanmonod, Elric Petit and Augustin Scott de Martinville. The dynamic trio met at ECAL (École Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne) and set up their studio straight after graduating. The creative vision of the Swiss, Belgian and French designers is characterised by an optimistic outlook on everyday life, with a particular focus on geometry and clean lines.
“We like to think that our work is rooted in simplicity, functionality and optimism, expressed through physical products.”
Several of their creations can be found in museums such as the MoMA in New York, the Museum für Gestaltung in Zurich and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.
“We love Scandinavian design for its balance between functionality and warmth. For us, Scandinavia is probably the place where people’s awareness of design is most highly developed, across all generations. Dynamic and innovative brands keep this pioneering spirit alive, and we’re proud to contribute to its legacy with a touch of our Swiss studio’s flair.”
Over the past two decades, the studio has collaborated with a variety of brands in the pursuit of creative innovation. These include companies such as Muji, Alessi, Hay, Habitat and Nespresso. One of their flagship ranges is the Bold collection for the French brand Moustache. Designed and launched in 2009, the Bold chair consists of two tubular metal parts, bringing the tradition of the tubular steel chair into the modern era. The colour of this iconic chair can be changed in a matter of seconds thanks to its removable fabric cover. The famous chair is also available as a stool and a bench, completing the collection.
