Øivind Slaatto drew inspiration from nature and basic mathematical principles to create the Swirl series. He wanted to find a way of incorporating the intricate construction of a snail's shell along with his fascination for fractals.

He wanted le Klint's design and craftsmanship to be obvious the moment you look at the lamp. The transparency, the shape and the spiralling panels of Swirl are a complete nod to le Klint's unique style and perfection, forever fitting and aesthetically pleasing in any room.
