Designer
Øivind Slaatto
Industrial designer, 1978
Øivind draws great inspiration from nature, particularly from the snail – both in terms of the structure of its shell and the snail’s slow pace.
He is also fascinated by the Fibonacci sequence, fractals and other basic mathematical principles. These sources of inspiration formed the basis of his very first design after graduating.
For B&O, he created the A9 loudspeaker, which was launched in 2012. The same principles have inspired his new range of lamps – the Swirl. Work on the lamps has actually been ongoing since he finished his studies in 2008, but Øivind has been working intensively on refining and polishing the design.
