Height is less critical: the cover can be taller than the pot (with the plant rising above it), the same height, or slightly shorter (with the pot showing by 1-2 cm, which also looks perfectly fine). For a plant bought in a 14 cm pot, go for a pot cover 16-17 cm in diameter. For a 21 cm pot, choose a 23-25 cm cover. For a 30 cm pot, a 33-35 cm cover. For very large plants (Monstera, Strelitzia, Ficus Lyrata) in pots of 40 cm or more, allow for a cover 45-50 cm in diameter. Tip: place a saucer inside the cover, underneath the pot, to catch the watering run-off and stop the cover from becoming saturated with moisture. Ceramic, terracotta, metal or jute pot cover: which should I choose?
