Three-seater indoor bench with sepia cushions B. Mombaers - Serax

Following on from his series of seats at the crossroads of vintage and industrial style, this three-seater bench with upholstered sepia cushions is a perfect example of designer Bea Mombaers' expertise and her mastery of the art of paradox.

Seen from the front, the bench appears firmly anchored on its four legs, but the more you move round to its side, the more the bench seems to lift away from the floor, until it is connected to the ground by nothing more than four fragile lines, like simple pencil strokes.

Somewhere between architecture and design, between ironwork and handwriting, the bench designed by Mombaers moves back and forth between matter and mind, with all the comfort and elegance you could wish for.
