Three-seater indoor bench with ivory cushions 182 X 91 X 58 B. Mombaers - Serax

Following on from her series of seating pieces at the crossroads of vintage and industrial style, this three-seater bench with upholstered ivory cushions is a perfect example of designer Bea Mombaers' expertise and her mastery of the art of paradox.

Seen from the front, the bench appears firmly anchored on its four legs, but the more you move round to its side, the more it seems to lift away from the floor, until it is connected to the ground by nothing more than four fragile lines, like simple pencil strokes.

Somewhere between architecture and design, between ironwork and handwriting, the bench by Mombaers travels back and forth between matter and mind, with all the comfort and elegance you could wish for.
