Indoor bench with ivory cushions 91 x 91 x 58 cm Mombaers - Serax

Continuing her series of seating pieces at the crossroads of vintage and industrial style, this bench with a single seat and upholstered sepia cushions is a perfect example of designer Bea Mombaers' expertise and her mastery of the art of paradox.

Seen from the front, the bench appears firmly anchored on its four legs, yet the more you move round to its side, the more it seems to lift away from the floor, until it is connected to the ground by nothing but four fragile lines, like mere pencil strokes.

Somewhere between architecture and design, between ironwork and drawing, the bench designed by Mombaers moves back and forth between matter and spirit, all comfort and elegance.
