Since 2010, Miguel Angel Garcia Belmonte has paid tribute to the craft tradition of his home town of Totana through a design approach that combines working with clay and the demands of contemporary forms. By modernising production tools, he has turned this heritage into a benchmark for the art of ceramics in Spain.

Mediterranean at heart, Miguel Angel Garcia Belmonte drew inspiration from all that is mineral, plant-like and alive about this sea to design the Sponge Up! pendant light. Its cavities echo those of the sponge, creating an incredible light. Rounded in shape, its ceramic has been hand-worked to render the full richness of these tiny perforations with great sensitivity. A dome of light, a Milky Way when the pendant light is in the dark: this is an object of surprising poetry from Pott.
