First launched in 1961, the Model 597 lamp by Italian virtuoso Gianfranco Frattini is the lamp that established him as a lighting designer. Its unique, playful form perfectly sums up Frattini's extraordinary approach to the aesthetics of light. The distinctive nylon fringing of the Model 597 draws inspiration both from the world of fashion and from the fringed doorway curtains commonly found in Italian bars and grocery shops in the late 1950s.
Thanks to the range of side-mounted bulbs, the table lamps emit a 360° play of indirect light, softened by the fringing to produce a rich ambient glow, while the reflective aluminium cover adds warmth to the upward lighting. The Model 597 is light in its expression yet serious in its functionality - bringing sophistication, fun and character to interiors without resorting to superfluous decorative flourishes.
