Among the series of lighting Koen Van Guijze has designed for Serax, this floor lamp is the one that most explicitly evokes the world of roads and road signs. It bears a strong resemblance to the Nr. 09 wall light, another of the designer's creations.

Its tubular shape, rusted appearance and bevelled ends give the impression of a simple cylinder, a section of lamp post or an exhaust pipe left exposed to the elements.

Nevertheless, the reinvention of the object's function, as well as the perfection of its finishes, tell us more about the message it conveys. Indeed, some might see in this desire to bring light inside a car exhaust pipe the wish to reconcile nature and technology, ecology and industry.
