Lamp in brass and beige canvas Model 9205 - Gubi

First produced around 1950, the 9205 lamp is a classic, almost archetypal model with the inimitable Tynell aesthetic. Elegant and slender, its seemingly simple form conceals exceptional expertise and superbly precise craftsmanship. The lampshade on the canvas version is made by mounting the fabric onto a lining, which is itself fixed by hand to a metal frame. The bamboo version, meanwhile, is made up of slats hand-sewn together to form a pleated mat, before being attached to the lining and the frame. This is a contemporary take on the ryegrass used in the original Taito model. The stem is machined with a rattan-effect pattern, created by a silversmith on a lathe with great precision and extreme attention to detail, in order to recreate the look of layered strips. A brass plate, screwed into the stem, holds the lampshade in place.
