Ottoman in black wood and aluminium with sand cushion 96 x 110 x 43 cm Rudolph - Serax

The Rudolph collection is an entirely new design born of the encounter between the imagination of designer Vincent Van Duysen and the editorial line of the Serax platform.

The generous, quilted cushion sits atop a barely visible central wooden column. Spilling over its column, the cushion seems to gently take over its surroundings, like a vessel swallowing up a kingdom or wrapping it in a shawl of wood and aluminium, offering it shelter and tranquillity.

This dialogue between serenity and strength runs throughout the work of the designers selected by the Serax platform. It is even present in the designer's chief inspiration, which gave the collection its name: Rudolph. Vincent Van Duysen explains;

"The name Rudolph is derived from Rudolf Michael Schindler, a leading figure of American mid-century modernism. I admire him greatly. Mid-century style is a great source of inspiration for my work; think of the typical built-in benches that furnish modern interiors. But the most significant inspiration for this collection was the sofa I have in my house in Portugal, because of its proportions, its lines and the serenity you feel when looking at it or sitting on it."
