Although most design fans know Muller Van Severen for its furniture, the couple designer story actually began with the design of these pendant lamps. It all started out of necessity, " explains Hannes. We were working in our new house, which is an old house. There was no socket on the ceiling above the table to plug in a light source, so we designed a lamp that could be hung on the wall. The first prototypes were shown at Muller Van Severen 's very first solo exhibition in 2011. At this exhibition, Fien and Hannes filled the space of Veerle Wenes' Valerie Traan gallery with drawings that gave the impression of someone taking a ensemble of pencils and starting to draw in air. In fact, this is exactly how these lamps should be interpreted, as seemingly naïve drawings materialize in real life.

Like all the furniture at Muller Van Severen, the hanging lamps add a sober but colorful line to the interior. At the end of this line is a light bulb, with a lampshade they unearthed at a flea market. It's a fantastic shade: perfectly neutral.
