The vase Sumo of 101 Copenhagen celebrates the human body. In reference to the Japanese sport Sumo, all the vases are voluminous in size and shape, resting on narrow, pointed feet. All vases have different openings, from traditional narrow openings to double openings and deeply carved openings.
The collection Sumo is interested in the contrast between the familiar shapes of the vases and the addition of artistic and abstract ideas and details plus, challenging our individual perceptions of the shape of a vase. The Sumo collection is conceived as an autonomous artistic object which, when assembled, forms a family of united objects.
