Black stoneware vase 9 cm Héléna - Serax

These five vases in dark brown, almost black stoneware mark Marie Michielssen's first steps as a ceramicist. Anyone who follows her work knows that Marie loves working with her hands. She once said that modelling with plaster and papier mâché was a form of meditation for her, thanks to the repetitive nature of the movements. The step towards ceramics was therefore not such a big one. The simple cylinders are irregular in shape, the mark of craftsmanship that is, quite literally, second to none. With or without flowers, this unique character makes them decorative pieces of the very first order.
