The Danish HAY design house invites us into its world of pure Scandinavian minimalism. With the help of an army of award-winning international designers, HAY introduces us to pieces that are sometimes sober, sometimes exuberant, always keeping one guiding line: that of elegance. A true producer of best-sellers and pieces that almost become icons, HAY has established itself as a sure value in the world of design.
The Ottoman armchair and footrest were created by my designers at Dapper. Doshi Levien is a design studio based in London founded in 2000 by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien. Doshi grew up in India and studied at the National Institute of Design, while Jonathan, originally from Scotland, trained in cabinet making and then industrial design. They met during their studies at the Royal College of Art and gained a strong reputation for creating designs that are both technically advanced and culturally resonant. They have received international recognition for their work and in 2008 were awarded the prestigious Future Legends of Design award from the Cooper Hewitt National Museum of Design in New York. Ensemble In addition, they bring a complementary set of skills to the projects they work on. Doshi is primarily interested in visual culture, an aesthetic understanding of the world and the materiality of things, while Levien focuses more on precision and industrial technique. They have worked on projects for leading companies and institutions in the fields of furniture, fashion, household goods, technology and lighting.
Uchiwa is a spacious armchair inspired by the soft opening shape of a traditional Japanese fan. Generous and welcoming, original and familiar at the same time, the armchair comes in two upholstered versions: in a softer quilted model for a more domestic environment and in moulded foam for a more demanding contractual context. The base is available in natural or stained oak.
So you will find all the models and colours of the Hay Ottoman armchairs on the website The Cool Republic. Let yourself be tempted by the Ottoman footrest which is totally matching with the armchair.
