Designer pendant light in glossy brown-black steel 47cm Semi - Gubi

The Semi pendant light is a unique lamp made up of two quarter-circles joined together. Its distinctive arch-shaped enamelled metal lampshade casts a conical light, making it ideal above a dining table or a worktop. With its lightness, timeless design and range of colours and sizes, the Semi pendant light is extremely versatile and perfectly suited to both private and public spaces. Designed in 1968, it is the fruit of the creative collaboration between Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup. In reaction to the soft, organic shapes characteristic of the "cosy" era that dominated Denmark at the time, Bonderup and Thorup wanted to create a lamp with crisp, clean lines and a bold geometric form. Their creation was entered into the competition held by the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and won first prize. In the 1980s, the pendant light enjoyed immense success and became the best-selling Danish design of the period, gaining international renown and iconic status.
