The Brutus stool has been carefully designed to showcase the harmony between architectural robustness and natural warmth. Its solid oak structure accentuates its sculptural dimension, where clean, precise lines meet an elegantly curved seat. This balance between strength and softness creates a visual dynamism, giving the Brutus stool a look that is both striking and welcoming. Ideal as an extra seat at the table, a decorative piece in the living room or an entrance hall stool,

it belongs to the iconic Brutus collection by 101 Copenhagen, inspired by the brutalist architectural movement of the mid-20th century. Originally offered in fibre-reinforced concrete, the collection has now been reinvented in FSC-certified solid American red oak, handcrafted by skilled artisans with a natural finish that highlights the raw beauty and timeless charm of the material.

Versatile, the Brutus stool can serve as an extra seat, a coffee table or a sculptural decorative piece in the living room, hallway or bedroom. Its compact shape and timeless design allow it to fit effortlessly into a variety of spaces, bringing both functionality and character.

Materials

Material : Oak

Composition : These wooden pieces are crafted from American red oak, a living material in which every grain tells a story. Certified and sourced from sustainably managed forests, this hardwood embodies the quiet strength of the forests from which it comes. Naturally resilient and durable, it improves with age, developing a rich patina that bears witness to years of use and care. The fine grain and inherent strength of the oak make it an ideal material for everyday use, whilst its warm tones and textured surface lend it an authentic and refined beauty. It invites touch and wear, becoming more personalised with each passing year. We work with this wood with respect, allowing its natural stability to guide the creation of sculptural forms: bold lines, gentle curves and details that highlight its unique character. Natural oak is a warm, golden-beige shade that reveals the authentic character of American red oak. Its subtle reddish undertones lend it a soft luminosity, whilst the grain adds natural rhythm and depth. Authentic and timeless, this shade embodies the warmth of wood in its purest form, offering a versatile base that harmonises equally well with both modern and traditional interiors.

Care : American red oak is a hard, durable wood that develops a beautiful patina over time. To preserve its character, dust the surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For a more thorough clean, wipe gently with a slightly damp cloth in the direction of the grain, then dry immediately to prevent moisture from building up. Avoid abrasive cleaners, silicone-based polishes and excess water, as these can damage the surface or cause the grain to swell. Protect the oak with coasters, placemats or felt pads to prevent stains, scratches and heat marks. Wipe up any spills immediately and keep your furniture away from direct sunlight, high humidity and heat sources to prevent discolouration, cracks and warping. With careful maintenance, American red oak will retain its natural strength and warmth, ageing with understated elegance and gaining character over the years.
