For Lluís Porqueras, designing meant stripping away the superfluous until only an essential object remained: beautiful, useful and simple. Such was the case with the Funiculí, a lamp from 1979 that Marset reissued in 2013 and which has become an emblem of the collection.
Lightweight, it takes up almost no space and can work as an ambient lamp or provide direct lighting, depending on how you aim the beam. Its designer freed the lampshade to give it maximum mobility. It can swivel through 360 degrees to focus the light exactly where you want it, and it also features a double-clamp system for height adjustment. For the Funiculí, 40 years are nothing; it has stood the test of time and now comes in new colours that broaden its possibilities even further. It is no longer available solely in the neutral shades of moss grey, black and off-white.
The new colours - green, terracotta and mustard - are intense. They are design statements, highlighting the Funiculí's shapes and bringing a splash of colour to the space. The new shades are cheerful and vivid, and show that colour can be essential too.
