Tips : Tatami mats must always be kept dry to prevent mould from forming. Clean them with a slightly damp cloth and avoid using harsh cleaning products. When vacuuming, follow the direction of the weave, as vacuuming against the grain could damage the surface or push dirt deeper into the material. Where possible, use the lowest suction setting. As tatami mats are sensitive to damp, ensure there is good air circulation above and below them. It is recommended that you air the tatami mats from time to time, preferably on dry, sunny days.
