La Mère the first line of ceramic tableware from Marie Michielssen, is a loving ode à la figure to the (grand -)-mother and to women in general. The tableware has a slightly nostalgic aspect feel but is, in many ways, innovative due to its vertical structure. Each shape is unique and molded by hand. All pieces are finished with an off-white glaze or a warm, dark brown, almost black. As a third contrasting color, Marie chose a bold Venetian red. The designer consciously chose these colors for créer a mix of white and dark brown or red and dark brown.
This large stoneware plate exudes craftsmanship. Training has created imperfections that add a sense of uniqueness and authenticity. The foot and warm, dark-brown, almost black glaze add a beautiful finishing touch.
