Mika and Julie Tolvanen, Helsinki-based bird enthusiasts, designed Bird Silo, the first product from Pidät. They have studied the feeding habits of birds pendant several years by feeding them from prototypes à la window of their dining room.
The product is designed to work like a grain silo. You lift the top cone, pour in sunflower seeds or peanuts, and the feeder fills from the bottom up.
The studio Tolvanen, when designing this product, wanted créer an object that is both functional and aesthetic, with a minimal impact on the environment .
That's why this feeder is made from 100% recycled plastic, just like its suspension cord. Only the hardware is stainless steel. To follow acircular economy goal, studio chose to recycle plastic post -consumption and to color their feeder by a waterless painting process.
As for the visual, the Silo feeder features a cone roof and accordion pleated structure, giving it a contemporary style. To bring a little color to your garden, the Silo feeder comes in a variety of colors, specifically chosen not to scare the birds away.
Small plus: the feeder is designed for easy assembly and disassembly, all parts are recyclable, and, comes in a fully folded cardboard box to avoid producing plastic waste.
