Natural rattan bar stool with teak legs Saïgon - KOK

The Saigon collection, made up of small cabinets, armchairs, sofas and bar stools, is built around two guiding principles: one formal, the other narrative.

The formal principle echoes the identity of the KOK brand. It involves drawing on certain materials such as pine and rattan, as well as particular techniques for assembling those materials, such as wood weaving, in order to evoke a moment rooted in a specific time and place: the meeting between Eastern weaving craftsmanship and Western industrial furniture, with its simple forms.

The second principle is narrative and responds to the first: far from plunging us into nostalgia for a colonial past, this furniture instead invites us to move beyond the oppositions between styles and territories, and, through the motif of interlacing, initiates a shift from encounter to dialogue, from opposition to association.

Here it is through this bar stool that this multicultural dialogue is woven: between the modern form of the bar stool, the meshed pine and rattan shell and the plump braiding of the seat.
