Known as the "master of the chair" with around 500 creations to his credit, Hans J. Wegner was fascinated by the rocking chair. Thanks to his meticulous approach to design, bringing it down to the very essence of comfort and functionality, he arrived, after years of refinement, at this captivating chaise longue of the modern era.
Designed in 1965, the CH45 Rocking Chair is part of a large plus series designed by Wegner for Carl Hansen & Søn, including the CH44 Lounge Chair, the CH46 and CH47 Dining Chairs and the CH53 Stool, which are still in production today.
This modern chair is imbued with the elegance of Nordic simplicity that harkens back to the Shaker era, with a sloping ladder-like backrest and a woven paper rope seat that echoes the other models in the series. Perfectly proportioned, the CH45 rocking chair has a dynamic expression that allows you to sit, rock and stand up effortlessly.
