Replacement upper shade in opal glass PH 3/2 - Louis Poulsen

PH 3/2 is the name given to this lamp by designer Poul Henningsen. This luminaire is a touching reminder of the designer's collaboration with design Louis Poulsen, which began in the mid-1920s and lasted until à la the end of his life in 1967. It was pendant this collaboration that led to a design that would become iconic, and today encore remains indispensable: the logarithmic lampshade by PH.

The concept was based on Poul Henningsen's need to créer provide indirect, diffused light. He imagined several shades superimposed and curved downwards, each one reducing the luminous flux that passes through it traverse, to create a complex play of shadows that let out a soft, homogeneous ambient light. It's a design unique, which propelled this collaboration to the forefront of the lighting world, resulting in the production of almost a thousand PH models over the years.
