Smoked black and black steel folding chair Plia - Anonima Castelli

When it was unveiled in 1967 at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, the chair proved such a hit with the public that many visitors left the stand taking the display models with them. Following this rather unorthodox compliment, the chairs were secured within the booth with a chain. With Plia and its study of the "three-disc pivot", which revolutionised the very concept of the folding chair, Giancarlo Piretti entered history with the nickname "the Thonet of the 20th century". Available in a range of colours, from the steel frame to the seat and backrest, it even comes in a Viennese cane version stretched over a solid wood frame, enriching this wholly Italian style icon even more.
