Originally designed by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld in 1934 to make use of surplus wooden shipping crates, the Crate collection has been relaunched as part of a Rietveld Originals x HAY collaboration. Faithful to the original design, the Crate coffee table shares the same precisely balanced proportions and the same transparent construction, minimising production costs and streamlining the assembly process. With its low proportions, square top and diagonal cross bars, the table's simplicity and spatial design reflect the designer's architectural style – offering both functionality and comfort without taking up space. Made from solid pine with a water-based lacquered finish available in a range of colour options, the Crate coffee table suits a multitude of outdoor settings.
