Originally designed to make use of surplus wooden shipping crates by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld in 1934, the collection Crate has been relaunched as part of a Rietveld Originals x HAY collaboration.
Manufactured with respect to design original, the Crate dining bench shares the same precisely balanced proportions and transparent construction to minimize production costs and optimize the assembly process. The bench's classique design features a gently sloping back and seat with supportive armrests, its simplicity and spatial design reflecting the designer's architectural principles - offering functionality and comfort without absorbing space.
Made from solid pine, with a lacquered finish at base d'eau in various color options, the Crate dining bench is suitable for a multitude of outdoor environments and can be complemented by seat cushions in option in selected textiles for added comfort.
