Outdoor bench in white lacquered pine Crate - Hay

Originally designed by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld in 1934 to make use of surplus wooden shipping crates, the Crate collection has been relaunched as part of a Rietveld Originals x HAY collaboration.

Made in keeping with the original design, the Crate dining bench shares the same precisely balanced proportions and the same transparent construction to minimise production costs and streamline the assembly process. The bench's classic design features a slightly inclined backrest and seat with supportive armrests, its simplicity and spatial design reflecting the designer's architectural principles – offering functionality and comfort without taking up space.

Made from solid pine with a water-based lacquered finish in a choice of colours, the Crate dining bench suits a multitude of outdoor settings and can be complemented by optional seat cushions in selected textiles for extra comfort.
