The Semi Pendant is a hanging lamp unique, based on two quarter circles joined back to back. Its enamelled metal shade in the shape of an arch creates a diffuse and conical light, ideal above a dining table or a kitchen worktop. Thanks to à la lightness of form, its unique timeless design and its range of colors and sizes, the Semi Pendant lamp is extremely versatile and ideal for both private and public spaces.
The Semi suspension lamp was designed in 1968 as a creative partnership between Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup. Reacting against the soft organic forms, the so-called " cosy " era, that dominated Denmark at the time, Bonderup and Thorup wanted créer a lamp with clean, crisp lines and geometric shapes. Their design was submitted to a competition at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, and won first prize. In the 1980s, the suspension was a grand success and became, at the time, the best-selling Danish design plus. It gained worldwide recognition and iconic status.
