The David two-seater rattan armchair is very representative of the architectural identity of KOK.
On the one hand, it is a question of summoning certain noble materials such as pine and rattan, as well as certain techniques of assembly of materials such as the braiding of wood in order to evoke a historically and geographically located meeting: that between the oriental weaver know-how and the western industrial furniture, with simple forms.
On the other hand, this historical reactivation also includes a cultural project: this furniture proposes to us, contrary to the colonial perspective, to apprehend, in their complementarity, the various cultural approaches of the living and the non-human. The motif of intertwining, the inspirations either Art Nouveau or Belle Epoque mixed with the work of wood, mark here a passage from the meeting to the dialogue, from the opposition to the association.
Here it is through this armchair that this multicultural dialogue takes place, à la both anchored in history and turned towards the future.
The brand
Originally and for three generations, KOK MAISON has cultivated a passion for weaving plant fibres.
