The Pina candleholder by Broste Copenhagen rests on a compact form, wider than it is tall, which draws its presence from its sturdy proportions. The Danish house works ceramic here as an everyday object, placed on a table, a shelf or the edge of a fireplace, without seeking effect.
The ochre finish comes from a reactive glaze, a technique where the firing decides part of the result. The nuances shift across the surface, sometimes deeper near the edges, lighter on the flat areas. Each piece thus carries its own variations in shade and shine, which excludes any uniformity from one piece to another.
This small volume accepts both solo and repetition. Aligned with other candleholders of different heights, it composes a lively table landscape; alone, it is enough to warm a corner of a room. Its modest weight allows it to be moved around according to meals and evenings.
