With a shape entirely its own, Hans J. Wegner's iconic CH24 Wishbone chair holds a special place in the world of modern design.
When designing the CH24, Wegner chose to combine the backrest and armrest into a single piece. To ensure the stability of the steam-bent top and provide comfortable support, Wegner developed the distinctive Y-shaped back that gave the Wishbone chair its name.
Making each Wishbone chair requires more than 100 steps, most of which are carried out by hand. It takes a skilled craftsman around one hour to produce the hand-woven seat, using approximately 120 metres of paper cord, whose impressive durability and stability make the chair both strong and long-lasting. The Wishbone chair offers comfort and stability while satisfying the aesthetic desire for an elegant, distinctive form.
Over time, the Wishbone chair has come to be recognised as the ideal chair, capturing the essence of modern Danish design.
