The Danish company design HAY invites us into its world of pure Scandinavian minimalism. With the help of an army of award-winning international designers, HAY offers us pieces that are sometimes sober, sometimes exuberant, but always with one guiding principle: elegance. HAY is a producer of best-sellers andiconic
pieces, and has established itself as a leading name in the world of design.
The Ottoman chair and footrest were created by my designers at Dapper. Doshi Levien is a studio of design founded in 2000 by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien. Doshi grew up in India and studied at the National Institute of Design, while Jonathan, originally from Scotland, trained as a cabinetmaker and then as an industrial designer design. They met pendant while studying at the Royal College of Art and have developed a strong reputation for creating designs à la that are both technically advanced and culturally resonant. They have been recognized internationally for their work and in 2008 were awarded the prestigious Future Legends of Design by the Cooper Hewitt National Museum of Design in New York. Ensemble, they bring a complementary ensemble skill set to the projects they work on. Doshi is primarily interested in visual culture, an aesthetic understanding of the world and the materiality of things, while Levien focuses more on precision and industrial technique. They have worked on projects for leading companies and institutions in the fields of furniture, mode, housewares, technology and lighting.
Uchiwa is a spacious chair, inspired by the soft opening shape of a traditional Japanese fan. Generous and welcoming, original and familiar à la, the chair is available in two upholstered versions: in a soft plus quilted model for a plus home environment and in mousse moulded for a more demanding contract context. The base is available in natural or stained oak.
You can find all the models and colours of the Ottoman from Hay on the website The Cool Republic. Let yourself be tempted by the Ottoman footrest which matches the armchair.
