Inspired by Danish hygge, designer Simon Legald created the Hyg furniture series. When the series was introduced in 2018, it consisted of a 2-seater sofa, lounge chairs and a pouf. In 2020, the range expanded with a chair and a bar stool that share the characteristics of the lounge series: warm, organic curves designed with sublime comfort in mind. The concept of hygge is all about feeling good – security, warmth and comfort are all part of its DNA, and it is precisely these qualities that form the blueprint for the Hyg collection. With the new models, the range – and the comfort – expands even further, and new possibilities open up for creating cohesive environments with dining and relaxation areas. "The moments when we sit together, immerse ourselves in conversation and share a meal – for me, that is where the feeling of hygge reaches its peak. So it was only natural that the Hyg range should also provide the setting for these moments. The feeling of well-being is not only linked to the visual experience of the design, it lies in the overall sensory experience. A great deal of effort went into sculpting the shape to ensure rest and support for the human body, so that it is comfortable to sit in, in short.", Simon Legald tells us.
