Although a young company, Maison Janette is already an expert in its field and has chosen to prioritise quality by working with a manufacturer with over 30 years’ experience. Maison Janette reflects their passion for reimagined tradition, unexpected beauty and bold combinations. All the wallpapers are hand-drawn and then printed using traditional methods, meaning they look as though they have been painted rather than machine-printed. There is the expertise of Alex, who has been working in the world of interior design for 10 years and drives the project forward out of a love for colours and interiors. She designs the collections alongside two passionate illustrators, Laure and Aurélie, and a graphic designer, Inès.
Maison Janette is mindful of the planet around it and does everything it can at every stage of production to minimise its environmental impact. 100 per cent of our products are manufactured locally in Antwerp, whilst our posters are printed in Lille using vegetable-based ink on paper sourced from FSC-certified forests (Forest Stewardship Council, an environmental label). Finally, the adhesive used is made from potato starch.
Inspiration
It is LIFE itself that inspires Maison Janette! They love things that stand out: children’s laughter, large gatherings around the table, interiors decorated with objects from all over the world, modernised retro, bold splashes of colour, second-hand finds combined with family heirlooms, and sometimes even a touch of kitsch, chic style when the mood takes us, a touch of bourgeois elegance – why not? – good taste according to one’s own preferences, changing tastes, a cheerful atmosphere when you walk into a room, infectious energy, cosy homes… We love what’s REAL!
