Frequently asked questions

Who is Bitossi Home?
Bitossi Home is an Italian brand based in Tuscany, in the Florence region. It is the home decor arm of Ceramiche Bitossi, one of the oldest Italian ceramics houses (founded in 1921). Bitossi left its mark on the history of 20th-century Italian ceramics through its collaboration with Aldo Londi (1911-2003), regarded as one of the greatest Italian ceramicists. Bitossi Home cultivates a highly recognisable style: ceramics with bold reactive glazes (scarlet reds, deep greens, cobalt blues), sculptural shapes and mid-century graphic motifs. Every piece is produced in Italy in the historic workshops of Sesto Fiorentino, where Tuscan craftsmanship has been handed down for 100 years. The brand works with contemporary designers (Karim Rashid, Funky Table) on limited editions. Bitossi Home is now distributed in more than 50 countries and remains a benchmark for lovers of authentic Italian ceramics.
What are Bitossi Home's flagship pieces?
Several Bitossi Home collections have become iconic. The Funky Table collection (vases, plates and sculptures with colourful anthropomorphic shapes) is arguably the best known, available in dozens of finishes. The round Rimini Blu vases (in cobalt blue ceramic with stylised animal motifs, designed by Aldo Londi in the 1960s) are iconic reissues. The Pesci tableware (with graphic illustrated fish) is in high demand for design table settings. The Sgraffito and Maranello vases (mid-century shapes) round out the collection. On the lighting side, a few ceramic table lamps with fabric shades feature in the catalogue. For statement decor, Aldo Londi's limited-edition sculptures (Cavalli, stylised animali) can command high prices but remain heritage pieces. Bitossi Home's strength: authentic Italian artisanal craftsmanship combined with bold design that transforms a table or console. Ideal for anyone who wants to support Italian craftsmanship.
How much does Bitossi Home cost and is it genuine Italian ceramic?
Bitossi Home sits in the mid-to-high end of the Italian ceramics market. For standard vases, expect to pay 80-300 euros depending on size (15-40 cm). Signature pieces (Funky Table, Rimini Blu) range from 120 to 500 euros. Aldo Londi sculptures reach 500-2500 euros for limited editions. Pesci tableware sells for 25-80 euros per piece. Yes, this is genuine Italian ceramic made in Sesto Fiorentino near Florence, in the historic Bitossi workshops. Each piece is thrown by hand, then glazed and fired individually, which explains the variations in finish between examples (every piece is unique). The reactive glazes (which react unpredictably during firing) are the hallmark of Tuscan craftsmanship. Compared with industrial ceramics (HKliving, for example), Bitossi is 3-5x more expensive, but it is authentic craftsmanship with a genuine history. As an investment, Bitossi's signature pieces and limited editions retain excellent resale value. A vintage 1960s Aldo Londi piece can fetch 3000-8000 euros on the collectors' market today.
