Yamazaki

Yamazaki Home is a Japanese brand founded in 1903 in Osaka Prefecture. Originally specialising in metal household accessories (towel rails, key holders, clothes airers), it has gradually expanded into a complete catalogue of small, functional and minimalist objects for every room in the home. The Yamazaki spirit can be summed up in two words: Japanese minimalism and maximum functionality. Each piece solves an everyday problem (storage, hanging, organisation) with an ultra-pared-back design that doesn't draw attention to itself but makes life simpler. The visual signature is immediately recognisable: a matt metal structure (black or white) with light wood details (beech or oak). All products are designed in Japan, with production taking place in Japan and South-East Asia under Japanese quality controls. Yamazaki is now distributed in more than 50 countries and ranks among the favourite brands of Japanese minimalism enthusiasts and design kitchen lovers. The Cool Republic distributes Yamazaki in France.

Several Yamazaki categories have become essentials. The matt metal fruit bowls (Tower and Tosca collections) are absolute classics, available in several sizes and shapes (round, square, rectangular). The wall-mounted kitchen storage solutions (roll holders, magnetic knife racks, spice racks, sponge holders) transform cramped kitchens. The drawer and cupboard organisers (metal boxes, dividers, cutlery trays) are in high demand for minimalist storage. For the entrance hall, Yamazaki's wall-mounted key holders, letter racks and designer coat racks bring both function and style. For the bathroom, the towel rails, soap holders, shower storage and wall shelves are bestsellers. Occasional furniture (hallway consoles, side tables, shoe cabinets, modular shelving) rounds out the catalogue. Yamazaki's strength: very accessible prices (15-150 euros for most pieces) with a Japanese quality that has remained consistent for 120 years.

Yes — it's actually the brand's speciality. Yamazaki designs its products to make the most of every centimetre in small interiors (studios, Parisian bedrooms, kitchenettes). Several principles guide the design. Verticality: most Yamazaki storage is wall-mounted or designed to stack upwards, freeing up horizontal surfaces (worktop, floor, table). Modularity: many pieces combine together (sponge holder + knife rack + kitchen roll holder) to create a coherent mini-organiser above the sink. Discretion: matt black or white finishes that blend into any interior without imposing a strong style. Multifunctionality: a roll holder can also serve as a magazine rack, and a hallway console doubles as a shoe cabinet. To get started with Yamazaki in a small space, identify 3 problem areas (cluttered kitchen worktop, messy entrance hall, impractical bathroom) and choose 1-2 Yamazaki pieces per area. Allow 100-300 euros to significantly transform the organisation of a small flat. It's an investment you'll notice immediately in day-to-day life.
