Layered

Founded in 2015 and based in Stockholm, Layered has become one of the most talked-about Scandinavian interior design brands, having won the Elle Deco Accessory of the Year award and received acclaim from the international press, including the New York Times, Elle and Vogue, to name but a few.

Thanks to sustainable craftsmanship and 100 per cent natural or recycled materials, these high-quality products are extremely durable and designed to last a long time whilst having a minimal impact on our planet. The brand also strives to use 100 per cent renewable energy, sustainable packaging and low-carbon transport.

With a background in the fashion world, Layered’s founder and creative director, Malin Glemme, has always explored the interplay between art, fashion and interior design. Layered has a long tradition of pushing boundaries through creative collaborations with influential contemporary artists and designers, including the sculptor Bella Rune, the glass artist Åsa Jungelius and the renowned Scandinavian interior designer Lotta Agaton.

The story began when Malin Glemme decided to make her own rug. Unable to find a designer rug that was both sustainably produced and of the highest quality, Malin simply designed her own rug and had it woven by a master weaver in Bhadohi, India – a town renowned for its craftsmanship and authentic hand-knotted rugs dating back to the 16th century. When the rug was featured in a Swedish interior design magazine, Malin began receiving an increasing number of enquiries from customers wishing to buy it. There were so many that Malin eventually went on to create her own interior design brand: Layered was born.
