Just as for an adult, a child's bed plays an important part in their daily well-being. It's where they'll spend their nights and their naps. The more comfortable you make your child's sleeping space, the more restorative their sleep will be. The benefits are felt by the child and by the parents too, improving everyone's quality of life. Beyond providing a place to sleep, a children's bed is a decorative feature in a little boy's or little girl's bedroom. That's why it's so important to choose the right model for your child – and for you.
When it comes to models, choosing the right bed really matters. Has your baby outgrown their cradle? Then it's time to move on to a cot, and later to a children's bed. If you'd rather not change style too often and prefer a model that adapts to every age, consider an extendable bed. The concept is simple: a larger cot that will accommodate a child for a much longer period of their life, while also allowing them to climb in and out on their own. This type of bed has grown in popularity in recent years and is now a widespread favourite among parents and children alike. Sensibly sized to save space in a small bedroom, it leaves plenty of room for a play corner, a reading nook or even a desk. For an older child ready for a change, a single bed is the best solution, both in terms of comfort and of space.
The children's furniture specially selected for you by the Cool Team is designed to last, and can therefore be passed down through several generations of children. It's thanks to the use of these hard-wearing materials that extendable beds can exist and endure. We offer every type of children's bed: from cots to single beds. Have fun choosing the style you're after – modern, traditional or design-led – and share your taste with your child from their very earliest years. Browse the catalogue and discover children's beds from brands such as Charlie Crane, Bloomingville MINI and Nuki Shop, which are sure to meet your every expectation.
The essentials of a child's bedroom are few: somewhere to sleep, a bedside table and wardrobes. Match the children's bed with the storage accessories for complete harmony. You could also take the opportunity to add a children's pouf, turning your child's personal space into a cosy corner where they can read, play or simply rest.
For the littlest ones, look to children's furniture label Charlie Crane. Loved the KUMI cradle and want to move your child up to a bigger bed while keeping the same look? The KIMI has exactly the same design as the KUMI cradle. It's an extendable bed measuring 120 x 60 cm, with softly rounded curves. The bars are replaced by laces in a choice of colours along with a protective fabric panel to prevent falls during sleep. Once your little one is big enough to get into bed alone, one side panel can be removed. They'll then be far more independent and able to slip in and out from under the duvet as they please. Available with or without a foam mattress depending on your needs, the mattress is thick and firm to protect the spine from childhood onwards. It is made in France and CertiPur certified.
Nuki Shop also offers an extendable bed of its own. The Dream Crib is a contemporary take on the concept. The Polish brand is known for its minimalist vision of design, perfectly embodied in this piece from the Dream collection. Nuki draws its inspiration for its furniture from the surrounding wilderness. Each piece is drawn, made and then hand-polished in the finest craft traditions. The water-based varnishes contain no chemical additives – an important detail for a piece that will be used by children. Nuki Shop's three watchwords are simplicity, minimalism and sustainability. The side barriers of this cot can be removed to reveal a proper children's bed. The Dream Crib is built with a high-quality slatted base for guaranteed durability. It comes in three different finishes: natural wood, white or grey. The bed can also be purchased without the barriers, in three different sizes, so it can be adapted to your child's age.
Bloomingville's MINI range offers the Charli, a wooden children's bed that is as comfortable as it is decorative. Does your little one love painting and creative arts? Add a few cushions and they'll feel like they're floating on a cloud in the Charli. Guaranteed to make their friends envious, it's a piece that brings a playful touch thanks to its decorative details. The bed ends are interchangeable, so you can display the rainbow – or not – as their tastes change over the years. The decorative cloud is also removable.
With adolescence on the horizon, is your child after more understated furniture? The Kona bed by Ferm Living will be their first step into the world of design. The Danish brand's universe draws on both Scandinavian design and the low-living inspirations of traditional Japanese furniture. This bed is made from sturdy oak veneer, the perfect material to last for many years to come, right through to adulthood.
