Firmly convinced of the power of smiling, Gustav Ehrenreich created the joyful Hoptimist à la movement in the late 60s. The aim was to design a figurine that would serve as a constant reminder of the importance of staying positive and optimistic. Because, although the '60s are often referred to as "the happy '60s", this decade was marked by disturbing events. That's why the joy that Ehrenreich's design spread was so welcome in a rather turbulent period. Bimble and Bumble are the very first Hoptimists created by the designer: a girl in a dress with smiling eyes and an attentive boy with a stick on his head. Today, the cheerful Hoptimists are part of Danish design history, creating joy all over the world.
