It all started out of necessity, explains Hannes. We were working on our new house, which is an old house. There was no ceiling socket above the table to plug in a light source, so we designed a lamp that could be hung on the wall. The first prototypes were presented at Muller Van Severen's very first solo exhibition in 2011. At that exhibition, Fien and Hannes filled the space of Veerle Wenes' Valerie Traan gallery with drawings that gave the impression that someone had picked up a set of pencils and started drawing in the air. That is in fact exactly how these lamps should be interpreted, as seemingly naive drawings materialising in real life.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eLike all Muller Van Severen furniture, the pendant lights add an understated yet colourful line to the interior. At the end of that line is a bulb, with a lampshade they unearthed at a flea market.
